Trip itinerary

Day 1: Travel from Fes to Merzouga Desert via Ifran, Cedar forest, and Atlas mountains:
Our private 3-day Morocco desert tour from Fes to Merzouga starts from Fes to Ifrane, the beautiful mountain village often referred to as the Switzerland of Morocco. We stop near the Cedar Forest in the Middle Atlas Mountains where you can watch monkeys enjoying their freedom. We continue our journey to the village of Azrou-Berber in Morocco’s largest cedar forest. Then we visit the town of Midelt, known for its minerals and apple. We drive through the Ziz valley and enjoy the panoramic view of palm trees along the river, then we continue our journey to visit Erfoud and its fossil products. In Rissani, you will have time to shop like locals in its traditional souk(market). Later we reach the Merzouga Sahara desert where we will stay in the hotel right in front of the sand dunes (DBB).
Day 2: Merzouga sightseeing tour and Camel ride
The second day of our private Morocco desert tour is dedicated to exploring the Sahara by 4×4 vehicle. After breakfast, we take a tour through the sand dunes of Erg Chebbi to visit some oases in the desert, including the village of Khamlia, famous for its music – the Gnaoua music. Later, our Merzouga desert excursion takes us to Berber nomads in the desert and we spend a short time with them. In the afternoon we return to Merzouga where we ride camels into the deep desert, enjoy the beauty of the sunrise and spend a great night in the desert camp in tents. We will enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner and Berber music around the campfire. (DBB)
Day 3: From Merzouga Dunes back to Fes.
If you get up early in the morning, you will be rewarded with the amazing spectacle of the sunrise. At this time, the play of shadows across the dunes is a magnificent sight. After breakfast, there is the option of taking a second camel ride and walking through the wind-swept dunes of Erg Chebbi dunes. On the return to Fes, we can stop in Erfoud to see how locally found fossils are made into interesting artifacts and furniture. From here we continue to Er Rachidia and along the Ziz Valley, characterized by its huge palm groves. After crossing the Middle Atlas Mountains, we reach Midelt where we will have lunch. Afterward, you will enjoy a wonderful drive over the Ayachi mountain and again through the cedar forests. At the end of the afternoon, we arrive back in Fes.

Testimonials

A wonderful tour of Morocco

On our trip, we had an absolutely fantastic time. Mohammad was our driver for the three-day, two-night journey from Fes to Merzouga and back. During our drive, he was a fantastic driver who told us a lot of interesting facts about Morocco. The Sahara deluxe tent was a dream come true. We were enthralled by the camels and the breathtaking daybreak. When we returned to Fes, Mohammad took us on a tour of the city the next day, and we were able to view all of the landmarks. Our favorite part was visiting the pottery cooperative and witnessing all of the amazing detail that goes into the tile work that can be found all across Fes. The next day, Mohammad drove us to the airport as well. Mohammad made us feel comfortable and welcomed, and we left Morocco with a new friend. Nabil was a pleasure to work with and communicate with via email.

Luxury desert tour

Dealing with Fes Desert Trips has been a delight from beginning to end. During conversation, Lhoucine was consistent and forthright. We were provided free shuttles to our hotel, which relieved the stress of navigating the Médina. We didn't have to pay anything until we met Lhoucine, which gave us peace of mind.
Our driver, Said, was accommodating, informative, and entertaining. We learned about culture as well as some Arabic terms, which we were tested on later! Haha. Said was constantly chuckling and cracking jokes, and the frequent breaks made the travel much more bearable.
We upgraded to a luxury desert tent and were pleasantly surprised to discover that the entire facility was ours! We were treated like royalty by Hamid, who worked at the camp, and we ate a lot of great food.

When I return to Fes, I will surely utilize this company.
